Home Mortgage Rates
WAS 2.75%
NOW 4.38%

Of great INTEREST to me and very important for our pipeline of prospects and design clients is the current trend for creeping INTEREST RATES. Although still variable week to week…the problem is…they are creeping UPWARD. After reaching historic lows, below 3%, a current 30 yr fixed mortgage can now cost as much as 4.38%. Calculated over the long term of a mortgage, these small differences amount to 10s of thousands of dollars along with possibly unaffordable monthly payments.

CLIK HERE to visit a very good reference site for tracking current rates and comparing year ago statistics.

If you’re on the fence about your new home plans…please remember that the cost of construction is only one slice of the home buying/building fiscal pie. After over 5 decades of building…through a variety of INTEREST…ing times (19-21% in 1979) these are still fire sale rates.

Acting sooner to realize the dream of your dream home may be more important than ever.

The very best hedge against inflation: investing in a new home

lettuce“… a new home represents its highest value point in the last forty years. When adjusted against the impact of inflation over this time period, the investment in new construction unquestionably represents an unprecedented hedge against inflation.”

Recent trips to the grocery store reveal an obvious and troubling trend – the cost of food is rising. My weekly barometer is that very pedestrian member of the lettuce family, the lowly iceberg. Foodies will debate its merits or even reason for existing; however, my weekly monitoring of its persistent $2.49 price point tells me inflation has indeed crept into the produce section of my favorite store.

Groupthink… “The ICY HAND of conformity”

Icy Hand“The Timber Frames Unlimited team is among this gallant band of independent thinkers who know there is simply a better way to build a home whose value increases from the first day of occupancy…”

Our winter season continues to plod along. Adding to the general malaise was a recent tease of warmer weather to come, followed by a retreat into the familiar pattern of snowfall and below-average temperatures. In New Jersey’s bear country, this season has allowed us to chronicle some unforgettable images, such as this icicle.

Credit reviews equal more closing jitters…

Our intrepid field management team always travels with photography gear. As we embark upon Site Evaluation Visits and related tasks, we inevitably encounter some unforgettable images such as this one, my favorite all time street sign.
